Screenwriter | Director | Producer | Actress
Ingrid Franklin Diaz is a Colombian-American screenwriter, producer, and actress whose work is rooted in resilience and the reclamation of personal agency. Forced into marriage at seventeen to support her family, she became a mother of three by the age of twenty. As a young single mother in the Colombian entertainment industry, she worked in theater and telenovelas while facing and resisting professional harassment that ultimately cost her opportunities. These experiences shaped her commitment to telling stories about dignity and the unseen struggles of marginalized communities.
After migrating to the United States, Ingrid faced the profound loss of her mother while being unable to return home due to her immigration status. This experience deeply informs her emotional voice as a writer.
In 2018, she began collaborating with Antonio Zamudio, co-writing Broken Perspectives, a feature screenplay inspired by their shared experiences of vulnerability. Ingrid is the co-writer and producer of Broken Perspectives, dedicated to preserving the project’s emotional truth and narrative integrity.
She is also the inspiration and co-creator of The Pastor’s Wife, a dark comedy series based on her life, exploring religious double standards through humor. Trained at La Salle University in Colombia and at Ted Brunetti and Margie Haber Studios, Ingrid has acted in two feature films in Los Angeles and directed theater productions in Colombia. Her work centers on resilience, dignity, and the human spirit.
